It is.
Anyone who has lived in Thika long enough knows that farm. A local Kikuyu family has occupied it since the 1980s. They have never been selling.
So who is hawking prime highway land on a messaging app like a second-hand sofa?
Meet ABDIRASHID ABDUL SHARIFOW, also known as ZAINULABIDIN SHARIF. Multiple names are not an accident. They are a method.
Sharifow is a Nairobi-based operator whose name runs through fraud files from Thika to Kwale to Nairobi.
Arraigned before a Chief Magistrate. Title cancelled by the Environment and Land Court. Fingerprints and handwriting samples ordered by the DCI because investigators do not just dispute his deals – they dispute his identity.
He runs companies hijacked at Sheria House and disposable shells incorporated days before a heist. Influence peddling. Forged papers. Impersonation. Bribes. Hired goons. Same playbook, different county.
This is not one crook. This is a syndicate.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐀𝐏𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐋

The ELC in Mombasa, Colfax Holding Limited. Sharifow, working with Lands and NLC officials, obtained a lease and title over part of a 314-acre property using a dead land reference – L.R. No. 4526 – a number that no longer existed after consolidation and subdivision.
A ghost number used to steal real land. The court called the title “fraudulently and unlawfully issued” and cancelled it. Sharifow did not appear. He had likely already been paid by third-party buyers.

Contested land next to a major industrialist on the Thika–Garissa highway. And the reported grab of about Ksh 150 million worth of Section 9 land from a widow: Elizabeth Wambui.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐕𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐋 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐇 𝐆𝐀𝐌𝐁𝐋𝐄
Before the 86-acre farm, they went for the neighbour: plot 7705/1 on the same WhatsApp sketch.
About 50 acres. Worth over Ksh 3 billion. Sold in the early 2000s by a Thika family (Tank Photo Studio) to Vimal Shah – Bidco and Tatu City co-founder. Still his land.
In 2023 Sharifow used the usual kit: NLC lease-renewal hijack, pressure, intimidation. He got an allotment and started carving Shah’s farm into quarter-acre and eighth-acre plots.
The seller on the ground: long-time accomplice CECILIA WAMITHA MWANGI, former Gatuanyaga MCA and a political ally of William Kabogo.
Nobody asked the obvious questions. Why would a “prominent Somali businessman” fail to sell 50 prime acres to Eastleigh money? Why would one of Kenya’s richest industrialists hawk his personal farm in eighths through a retired MCA?
Shah is not a soft target. When he found his own titled farm being diced and sold, he went up the chain. By early 2025 the hunters were the hunted. Associates started peeling off. The gang got desperate.
So they pointed the same machine at the next farm: 7705/2. The 86 acres now on WhatsApp.
𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐎𝐌𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝟖𝟔-𝐀𝐂𝐑𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐒𝐓
This is Plan B. Vimal Shah burned them next door.
The occupying family has fought grabbers for decades.
The gang is believed to have hijacked one of the companies in that fight at Sheria House. Problem: the family already won in the High Court in 2020. Eviction rejected. No appeal left.
So the goons came in waves. The family beat them back.
Court closed. Street closed. Next move: e-commerce. Sell other people’s land on WhatsApp.
One confirmed casualty: Lucas Kaguamba, UniqMatt/Thika View in Ngoingwa. Ksh 6 million deposit for a quarter acre. Still chasing the money.
Other buyers arrived on site and met the family that has lived there for decades – people who had no idea their farm was for sale on the internet.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊
1. 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐭. Expired or expiring 99-year leases. Old owners. Estates in probate. Dead company founders. Slow reactors.
2. 𝐇𝐢𝐣𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥. Fraudulent returns at Sheria House to insert directors. Or a new company days before the deal.
3. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐥. Apply at NLC through the hijacked entity. Threaten lands officers. Drop political names. Career-ending talk. Result: a letter of allotment in days while the real owner’s file gathers dust.
4. 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝.
• 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐬: burn, cut, occupy. Alleged at Paradise Lost – lawyers say over a hundred men hit the 300-acre Kasarini Coffee Farm in April 2026 with guns and crude weapons while police watched.
• 𝐅𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐲: forged papers at the Business Premises Rent Tribunal. “Tenant won’t pay.” Eviction order. Auctioneers. A shortcut around the illegal-eviction law that actual court processes require.
5. 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡. Subdivide on paper. WhatsApp plots. Harvest deposits. Use the cash for lawyers. When heat rises, leave the country. Let buyers and owners fight each other.
𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐙𝐀𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐇 𝐖𝐀𝐌𝐁𝐔𝐈
Seventy. Widow. Section 9, Thika. Land now worth about Ksh 150 million.
Same network. Same NLC expired-lease route. Same former Gatuanyaga MCA alleged in the intimidation. They got a new lease, went to court, got orders – and had her arrested and jailed for resisting eviction from her own land.
A widow. Jailed. For standing on her property.
That is the machine.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐊𝐈𝐀𝐌𝐁𝐔 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐁𝐎𝐌𝐁
Coffee estates, family farms, clubs, malls – much of Kiambu still sits on colonial 99-year grants from the 1920s and 1930s. 1925 grant dies in 2024. 1930 grant dies in 2029. Hundreds of leases are expiring now. Hundreds of billions of shillings. That window is the feast.
𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐬:
• 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐭 – 𝟑𝟎𝟎 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐬. Mbugua Mwangi family. Alleged fake titles, a presidential grant to Gianni Limited, 281 plots for sale.
• 𝐊𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐮 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 – 𝟕𝟓 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐬. Occupied since 1916. County demanded 20 acres to renew the lease. ELC: arbitrary and unconstitutional.
• 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐥, 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐤𝐚 – 𝟔𝟓 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐬. Capwell/Shah family, Makongeni. Fighting an NLC renewal hijack by the same gang.
Dozens more are in the pipeline. Vultures circling.
𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐅𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄, 𝐋𝐀𝐖𝐘𝐄𝐑𝐒, 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐀 𝐘 𝐏𝐋𝐎𝐌𝐎
The documents are only half the job. The other half is the lie that the operator is connected, protected, untouchable. Names dropped in government offices. Imaginary backing “at the highest levels.”
It is a lie.
If he were connected, the High Court would not have thrown out his eviction. The Mombasa ELC would not have cancelled Kwale. Milimani would not have taken his prints like any other suspect. Court losses are facts. The connections are theatre.
The darker layer: expensive advocates with public anti-corruption brands. Reform posts. Judge-bashing. Rule-of-law costumes. Behind the costume: pressure on young magistrates.
First plata – a bribe for the ruling.
If that fails, plomo – not a bullet. A smear. The same social media platform used as a crusader’s pulpit becomes the blackmail tool. False accusations. Career death. Recusal. Next judge. Same game.
Some judges take neither. Justice Kibunja in Colfax v Sharifow is the proof the cartel cannot always break the bench.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐄𝐒
One Somali does not dispossess Kiambu Kikuyus alone. Britain tried and failed. Waariah mmoja?
He can’t. Eastleigh’s serious money wants nothing to do with him – which is why “prominent” Sharifow cannot move 86 highway acres in a day to the richest land-buying community in the country. Thika’s Indian business class will not touch him after Vimal Shah and Ananas Mall. He is radioactive.
The ground game is local. Kikuyu foot soldiers. Tribal cover. Local maps. Political theatre an outsider cannot stage.
Named in this network: Cecilia Wamitha Mwangi, former Gatuanyaga MCA and longtime William Kabogo goon – implicated in the Section 9 widow case. Nahashon Gachuhi, former Gatanga Ward MCA, Murang’a. Other small hustlers.
Ask the question they hope you never ask: why would a real minister need a retired MCA to rob a 70-year-old widow? The Vimal Shah collapse answered it. When a target with weight fights, the “political backing” evaporates.
Kikuyus robbing Kikuyus. A Somali as bookmaker. Officers complying because they believed the fiction that resistance ends careers. The courts and the DCI have already shown that fiction for what it is.
𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐔𝐆𝐒
To every lands officer in Kiambu who has been leaned on: they are thugs in good suits. Not connected. Not protected. Not untouchable. The power is manufactured. It dies when someone calls it.
April 2025, Supreme Court, Sehmi v Tarabana: an illegally acquired title is not a legal estate – not even in the hands of an innocent buyer. Grabber’s title cancelled. Family restored.
